Pierre Garroudi's A/W11 Haute Couture Collection: Purple Reigned, Purple Reigned!

What: Pierre Garroudi Haute Couture A/W 2011 Collection

Where: London Fashion week, The Pierre Garroudi Gallery, Crucifix Lane, SE1.

Think: One Colour: Purple, Revealing and Extravagant.

Consists of: Plunging Neck lines, Big shoulders, Puff skirts, Beading, Thick pleating and Ruffles.

Last nights show saw an exquisite line up of creations that showed off what the Haute Couture designer is recognised for, which is texture and block colours (noticeably, one per collection). The colour of this collection was a promising purple which magnificently matched our expectations and everything else in the collection.

Noticeably, the over the top hair designs we witnessed from his last (S/S 2011) collection with ship, fish and building shaped hair moulds were absent from this new collection with the exception of a crown, castle, cross and fan piece. All the more reason to focus on the intricately designed and thickly fringed pieces that the mostly hair net bouffant hair styles were paired with, so as to not detract from the main focus which was in fact more intensified by the increased use of neck and hand accessories, also all purple of course .

Another hot point of the collection, apart from the bridal style finale skirt, were the re-styled shoes courtesy of Magdalena Marciniak, with spray painted platforms boots and heels with added netting, roses, feathers, baubles and plastic fruits.

Pierre displays a talent for connecting femininity and sexiness with the Avant Garde appeal, keeping even the most body conscious hooked. The lack of a broad colour palette never seems to stunt his creativity nor our interest for that matter.

We have no doubt his next collection won't disappoint, we're just trying to guess what his next collection colour choice will be.
