The 30th Afro Hair & Beauty Show 2011

Celebrating it's 30th year of bringing the exciting world of Black hair and beauty to the forefront, the Afro hair and Beauty show was held at Islington's Business Design Centre and brought numerous hair and beauty traders and experts together under one roof. With thousands of customers and attendees over the 2 day show, the event was a great day out.

I attended yesterday and to be honest, having attended the Hair and Beauty show twice in the past, I do feel it was a bit lack lustre for the 30th Anniversary and personally, I prefer the Alexandra Palace venue but besides that, the event did what it was supposed to do and highlight the great hair and beauty industry.

With a hair styling competition, fashion shows, hair demonstrations and beauty bars, there was a lot to see and do. Creative Hair stylist Angela Plummer (http://www.angelaplummer.com/) was in attendance sporting one of her fasinating hair creations along with Newpaper editor Janelle Oswald.

Even Liz McClarnon was there with her pooch Coco-Belle... I'll say no more.

Trend Spotter: Vitne & Natalie May

The 30th Afro Hair & Beauty show yesterday gave a great opportunity to witness the parading fashion and for me to do a little trend spotting and I've selected two of my favorites.

Take a look at Vitne and Natalie May.

Vitne, an 18yr Old Londoner, was all about the boho chic influence,
with her great blend of fashion pieces.

Dress: Primark
Maxi Skirt (Worn on top of dress): ASOS

I'm so loving Natalie May's style. A 22 yr old singer from London, whose individual colourful style stood out from the crowd.

Dress: Internacionale
Corsage: Vintage, Camden
Head Wrap: Internacionale
Shoes: Bershka

Vitne & Natalie May, Twynkle salutes you!

Check out Natalie May's music video for her single closer,
Her fashion style even shines through here!

Pick Of The Day: Levi Strauss Sawtooth Shirt

I think it's great when a man can look smooth, smart (well smart casual) and sophisticated without much effort and this Levi Strauss Sawtooth Shirt from West Coast Capital helps him do just that. With simple black jeans, this Short sleeve cotton shirt with embossed stud front fastening, a western style stitch and panel detail and all over bold check print in contrasting colours, gives off real lady killer vibes.

Trend Feature: Per Una Cotton Rich Kickflare Denim Jeans

The flared jeans are a throw back to the classic years whilst giving a current feminine feel.
These Per Una Cotton Rich Kickflare Denim Jeans from Marks and Spencer are a great wardrobe investment.
They are casual kickflare jeans in stretch cotton featuring a plait detail and are great for any casual or dress up session. The fact that they'll always come back in (fashion), means you'll never have to put them out!

We've got the Victory!

It's a great thing when one comes across statement making accessories. Everywhere you look, there's a piece available that can represent your age, mood, outfit or your message but isn't it great when all that can be found under one brand. The Victory Shop does exactly that, a great go-to for a diverse range of unique jewellery.

We recently met the brains behind the Dalston based boutique, Victoria, who in a refreshingly leveled manner, explained the formula of the jewellery range.

"I create the beaded and more simple pieces while I source the extravagant ones" and extravagant they are! We were in awe of her twisted multi-beaded necklaces and green goddess gemstones.

The collections which are ethnic inspired are for the contemporary woman with a sense of style, designed with diversity and adaptable to any age.
